What do the components of Beam stress mean?
Answer
When checking the results of the Beam element, the components of Beam Stress, Sax, Ssy, Ssz, Sby, and Sbz have the following meanings:

Axial stress in the element's local x-axis direction |

Ssy | Shear stress in the element's local y-axis direction |
Ssz | Shear stress in the element's local z-axis direction |
Sby | Bending stress due to the beam moment (Mz) in the element's local z-axis direction |
Sbz | Bending stress due to the beam moment (My) in the element's local y-axis direction |
The values of the above components that are displayed when you select Values in Type of Display or check the results in the Table are the maximum absolute value within the defined stress range as shown in the figure below.
The stress range mentioned above can be checked in Section Property.
For example, Czp and Czm in the section property, as shown in the figure below, are the stress ranges of Sbz (y value of bending stress in the figure above). Cyp and Cym are the stress ranges of Sby. Additionally, Qyb and Qzb are the values of Q/b on the y and z axes respectively, in the figure above.
Sections defined in DB/User cannot be changed because the values of data related to stress output described above are fixed according to section information.
However, for the section defined by Value Type, the stress output data can be changed to the desired value by the user in Section Properties.
