DXF file cannot be imported properly.

Question

DXF file cannot be imported properly.

Answer

When importing CAD DXF file, curves, groups, and polylines are not supported.

1. In CIVIL, DXF files with curves cannot be imported.

In finite element analysis, real structures are modeled using nodes and elements. Elements are created by connecting nodes with straight lines, so it is not possible to represent a perfect curve. As a result, DXF files with curves cannot be imported in CIVIL.

(Note by using geometry-based modeling methods in FEA, DXF files with curves can also be imported.)

2. It is recommended to import DXF files that have been aligned to the origin in CAD.

If you import a DXF file that has not been aligned to the origin in CAD, nodes may have abnormal coordinate values, causing problems such as unshared nodes and duplicated elements. Therefore, It is recommended to import DXF files that have been aligned to the origin in CAD.

3. Surfaces created using the '3D Face' function in CAD can be imported as plate elements.

Please note that solid elements are not supported.

4. Files created using 'Group', 'Block' and Polyline' cannot be imported properly.

It is recommended to import CAD files after unassigning Group using 'explode' function in CAD.
