Question
What is Sub Path?
Answer
A Sub Path is a feature in CIM designed as a path that is created to reference the position of a straight line between two specific points and is re-created in the parent mode.
What is Sub Path?
: This is a path controlled by two constraint points (same points can be selected) that control the endpoints, and it can be applied to both straight and arc paths. Its special feature is that its length varies.
Example of applied structures - Cross Beam for Steel Box / PSC Beam Br. - Cable for Cable Stayed Br.
/ Hanger Cable for Suspension Br. etc.
The image below illustrates that a Sub-path is a path that can be created by specifying two Constraint Points in the Default Main Path or additional Main Paths that are created by default in the Assembly Unit Mode.
In this case, you can understand that the layout created in the Base Mode follows the Default Main Path, and the Sub Path created based on the Constraint Points assigned to the Main Path is smoothly linked according to it.

Now, let me introduce the definition method and usage of the Sub Path as an example. The purpose of the explanation is to describe the defining method of the sub path and to understand the differences in the generated results when the Curve Library assigned to each path is assigned to the layout.

Base > Library > Assembly > Create Assembly Unit > Constraint Entity > Space Constraint Entity > Point > Point Constraint Entity > Path > Sub Path |

When a Sub Path is assigned to a layout, it first finds the position of the Constraint Points on the layout and creates a Constraint Path by connecting them with a straight line.
Figure 5 shows the Sub Path recreated with a path (Curve Library) that has an offset of 5m in the orthogonal direction from the starting and ending points of the alignment direction, where the starting and ending points of the Sub Path are the starting and ending points of the alignment direction.
Therefore, Sub Path is a Constraint Path used when allocating alignment constraint points (girder anchorage location, pylon location) and objects that have these locations as constraint conditions, such as cables of a cable-stayed bridge determined by the anchorage location of the start and end points.
The direction of the Sub Path can be generated in an orthogonal direction or a parallel direction depending on the 'Follow path axis' setting.
