Question

I would like to check the analysis results from an arbitrary cross-section of a plate element (3D model).

Answer

You can check it using the 'Named Plane' function and 'Cutting diagram'.

There are cases where you need to check the analysis results of an arbitrary section of a model after performing the analysis of the plate element. To do this, define the section you want to review using the 'Named Plane' function, and activate the 'Cutting Diagram' in the Display options to check the analysis results for the arbitrary section in diagram form. The method is as follows:

1. Definition of Named Plane
[Structure] Tab > [UCS/Plan] Group > Named Plane

The Named Plane function is a feature that allows users to designate any desired plane and assign names to all nodes and elements located on that plane. This feature can be linked to the Cutting Diagram, as well as used in selection and Activities functions.

The plane setting can be configured by entering the desired location for the X-Y plane, X-Z plane, and Y-Z plane based on the global coordinates system. Alternatively, if needed, a plane can be defined by selecting three nodes directly.

Set a Named Plane for the plane located 7m in the Y direction from the X-Z plane

2. Set the Cutting Diagram option and verify the results of the Cutting Diagram option

The Type of Display option for the analysis results of a plate includes an option called Cutting Diagram. This option displays the results of the plate element in diagram form on a cut line or surface that has been cut along an arbitrary line or surface. If you select the Cutting Plane in Cutting Diagram mode, you can check that it is linked to the section set in Named Plane.
