The section created using SPC (Section Property Calculator) cannot be imported.
You should use the appropriate import method depending on the type of section you want to import.
There are two types of sections in SPC: General sections and Composite sections. Let's take a look at the importing methods for midas Civil according to each section type.
The general sections created with the Section Property Calculator (SPC) can be imported through the "Import SEC Files..." option in the [Properties] tab > [Section] group > [Section Properties] > General Section of Value tab.
If the .sec file is a composite section instead of a general section, the section will not be imported and the following [Warning] warning message will appear.
The following is for composite sections. Composite sections created in SPC can be imported by selecting Import SEC Files... under [Properties] tab > [Section] group > [Section Properties] > Composite-General of Composite tab
If you try to import a general section instead of a composite section in the Composite tab, the following [Warning] message will appear.
In addition, there is a difference in creating a tapered section using a general section and a composite section.
To create a tapered section using a general section, you first need to create the general sections to be used at the beginning and end points in the Value tab, as described above. Then, in the Tapered tab, you can create a tapered section using the beginning point section you created in the General Section.
Creating a Tapered section using a Composite section is done in the Tapered tab's Composite General Section. Unlike creating a Tapered section using a General section, there is no need to create a Composite section beforehand, and you can directly import the section file by clicking the "Import SEC Files...".
