Display Option

Function

  • Display Option is used to modify or change the representation form of graphics, characters, or symbols displayed in the Model Window.
  • The values set in Display Option are registered in the Window Registry. These values remain unchanged even after the program is terminated and restarted.

 

Call

From the main menu, select [View] tab > [Display] group > [Display] > [Display Option]

 

Input

Clicking on the tab at the top of the Display Options dialog box will take you directly to the corresponding design content.

Font tab

Select the categories in the tree menu to the left, for which representation forms are to be changed or modified. Assign the type, size, and color of the fonts in the setting list to the right.

 

Node

Node Number: Node number

Nodal Output Value: Numerical values of nodal displacements, reactions, etc.

Node Local: Display the coordinate axes of the nodal local coordinate system (NCS)

 

Element

Number/Attribute Name: Element number, element type and name, material property/section/thickness number and name

Element Output Value: Numerical values of element internal forces, stresses, etc.

Design Label: Display design parameters

Local Axis: Display design parameters

 

Contour Line Annotation: Annotations displayed on the contour lines.

 

Load

Load Value: Numerical values of all types of load data

 

Boundary

Elastic, General Link Axis: Display of characters for the element's local axes of elastic link elements and general link elements.

Link number: Link number

 

Heat of hydration: Display of characters and values related to Heat of Hydration analysis

 

Message Bar: All sorts of messages displayed in the Message Window

 

MGT Command Shell: Characters expressed in MCT Command Shell

 

Print: Fonts applied to printing

- Node

Node Number: Node number

Nodal Output Value: Numerical value of nodal results obtained from analysis

Node Local: Display axes of the nodal local coordinate system

- Element

Number/Attribute Name: Element number and attribute name or thickness/section/material number and name

Element Output Value: Numerical values of element analysis results

Local Axis: Display axes of the element's local coordinate system

- Contour Line Annotation: Annotations displayed on the contour lines.

- Load

Load Value: Load values in load representation

- Boundary

Elastic Link Axis: Display the element's local axes of elastic link elements

Link Number: Link number

- Heat of Hydration: Display of characters and values related to Heat of Hydration analysis

 

Font: Change font type

Size: Change font type

Foreground Color: Change font color

Background Color: Background color for characters when Opaque Option is selected

Transparent: Make the background of characters transparent so that the Label can be harmonized with the background image

Opaque: Make the background of characters opaque so that the Label can be highlighted

More Details...: Change font, font type, size, effect, color, language, etc.

Global Font Size: Setting font size for all text displayed in the Model View

Default Item: Apply midas Civil default colors to the selected items

Default All: Apply midas Civil default colors to all the selected items of the relevant tab

 

Color tab

Select the items in the tree menu to the left, for which screen color representations are to be changed or modified in the Model Window. Assign the display colors in the setting list to the right.

 

View

Background: Background color of the Working Window

Point Grid: Color of Point Grid

Line Grid: Color of Line Grid

Cursor: Color of the mouse cursor

UCS Symbol: Color of UCS symbol

 

Message Window

Background: Background color of the Message Window

Command Line: Background color of the Command Line

 

Treemenu

Background: Background color of the Treemenu

 

Node

Normal: Color of nodes

Selected: Color of selected nodes

Local x Axis: Color of the node's local x-axis

Local y Axis: Color of the node's local y-axis

Local z Axis: Color of the node's local z-axis

Inactive: Color of inactivated nodes

 

Element

The elements can be uniformly colored with the same color or colored by types and material properties. The color distinction can be specified through the Option Value of the Draw tab.

- Global: when the same color is assigned to the entire elements

Wire Frame: Color of elements represented as Wire Frame

Hidden: Color of the hidden faces

Hidden Edge: Color of the hidden face edges

- Truss: Assigning a color to truss elements

- Beam: Assigning a color to beam elements

- Plane Stress: Assigning a color to plane stress

- Plate: Assigning a color to the plate

- Plane Strain: Assigning a color to plane strain

- Axisymmetric: Assigning a color to axisymmetric elements

- Solid: Assigning a color to solid elements

- Tens-Truss: Assigning a color to tension-only elements

- Comp-Truss: Assigning a color to compression-only elements

NOTE.png When a color is assigned to elements from Truss to Comp-Truss, it is applied to the model's color when Draw As-Element Type Color is selected in the Options Value of the Draw tab.

 

- Symbol: Color of the symbols representing Gap, Hook, and Cable. Color of the sectional shape representation of Slice Type relative to line elements

- Selected: Color of selected elements

- Inactive: Color of inactivated elements

- Undeformed: Color of the undeformed model shape when the deformed and undeformed shapes are simultaneously displayed

- Local x Axis: Color of the element's local x-axis

- Local y Axis: Color of the element's local x-axis

- Local z Axis: Color of the element's local z-axis

- Local Direction: Color of the node entry sequence in element generation

- Free Edge/Face: Color of free edges of the plate and solid elements

 

Mass

Assign the color of the mass entry status symbol.

Nodal Mass On: Color of the symbol representing the entered nodal masses among the 6 degrees of freedom

Nodal Mass Off: Color of the symbol representing the non-presence of nodal masses among the 6 degrees-of-freedom

Nodal Mass Edge: Color of the outline of the nodal mass symbol

Load to Mass On: Color of the substituted nodal mass component due to loads

Load to Mass Off: Color of the non-substituted nodal mass component due to loads

Load to Mass Edge: Color of the outline of the substituted nodal mass symbol due to loads

 

Load

Assign colors by types of loads.

Nodal Body Load Fill: Color of the arrows of nodal body loads

Nodal Body Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of nodal body loads 

Nodal Load Fill: Color of the arrows of nodal loads

Nodal Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of nodal loads

Specified Displacement On Color of symbol representing entered nodal displacements among the 6 degrees-of-freedom

Specified Displacement Off: Color of symbol representing unspecified nodal displacements among the 6 degrees-of-freedom

Specified Displacement Edge: Color of nodal displacement symbol outline

Beam Load Fill: Color of nodal displacement symbol outline

Beam Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of beam element loads

Pressure Load Fill: Color of the arrow outlines of beam element loads

Pressure Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of pressure loads

Floor Load Fill: Color of the arrow of floor loads

Floor Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of floor loads

Floor Load Area: Color of the lines between tributary areas (Sub-Beam location)

Finishing Material Load Fill: Color of the arrow of finishing material load

Finishing Material Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of finishing material load

Floor Load Name Fill: Color of the range applied with floor loads

Floor Load Name Edge: Color of the outline of the ranges applied with floor loads

NOTE.png The colors assigned to Floor Load Name Fill/Edge are applied Floor Load Name display after Global Color is assigned to Floor Load Color under the Draw Tab of Display Option.

Plane Load Fill: Color of the arrows in plane load symbols

Plane Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines in plane load symbols

Plane Load Name Fill: Color of the ranges in which plane load is input

Plane Load Name Edge: Color of the outline of the ranges in which plane load is input

Prestress Load Fill: Color of the arrows of prestress loads

Prestress Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of prestress loads

Pretension Load Fill: Color of the arrows of pretension loads

Pretension Load Edge: Color of the arrow outlines of pretension loads

Nodal Temperature Load Fill: Color of the arrows of nodal temperature loads

Tendon

Assign the colors of the symbols representing tendon placement.

Tendon Profile: Color of the lines representing tendon placement

Control Data: Color of the control point used to define tendon placement

Select Tendon Profile: Color of the selected tendons

 

Boundary

Assign the colors of the symbols representing boundary conditions.

Constraint On: Color of the constrained degrees-of-freedom among the 6 degrees of freedom

Constraint Off: Color of the free degrees of freedom among the 6 degrees-of-freedom

Constraint Edge: Color of the symbol outlines representing the constraints

Spring On: Color of the entered spring condition symbol among the 6 degrees-of-freedom of elastic support conditions

Spring Off: Color of unspecified spring conditions among the 6 degrees of freedom of elastic support conditions

Spring Edge: Color of the outline of nodal spring symbol

General Spring On Color of entered support stiffness among the 6 diagonal terms of the stiffness matrix in the General Spring Support

General Spring Off: Color of unspecified support stiffness among the 6 diagonal terms of the stiffness matrix in the General Spring Support

General Spring Edge: Color of the outline of the General Spring Support symbol

Beam Offset: Color of beam offset symbol

Beam/Plate Release: Color of the symbol representing release of beams or plate elements

Rigid Link: Color of the rigid link (between master node and slave nodes) symbol

Line Lane: Color of Line Lane symbol

Lane Support: Color of Lane Support symbol

Surface Lane: Color of Surface Lane symbol

Surface Lane Center: Color of the surface lane centerline

Master Node: Color of the master node symbol in Story Diaphragm Display

Elastic Link: Color of elastic link elements

Elastic Link x Axis: Color of elastic link element's local x-axis

Hydration

Assign the colors of the symbols pertaining to the data related to Heat of Hydration Analysis.

Convection Boundary Edge: Color of the symbol outlines representing convection boundary edge

Convection Boundary Fill: Color of the planes of symbol representing convection boundary edge

Prescribed Temperature: Color of symbol representing prescribed temperature

Heat Source Edge: Color of symbol outlines representing the elements assign to heat source function

Heat Source Fill: Color of symbol planes representing the elements assign to heat source function

Pipe Cooling Element: Color of lines representing pipe cooling elements

 

Legend

Assign the colors of the Legend that produce various references for analysis results in the Model Window.

Drawing Color: Color of partition lines of Legend Window

Text Color: Color of texts in Legend Window

 

Result

Assign the colors of the following list in the Model Window producing analysis results.

Plate Cutting-Line Color: Color of cutting lines in plate elements

Plate Cutting-Plane Color: Color of cutting planes in plate elements

Beam Diagram Color: Mono-color of shear/moment diagrams of beam/wall elements

Moving Load Tracer Point Load: Color of the arrow symbol for moving load tracer point load

Moving Load Tracer Dist. Load: Color of the arrow symbol for moving load tracer dist. load

 

Structure Group

Wire Frame: Color of elements expressed by Wire Frame

Hidden Fill: Color of Hidden faces

Hidden Edge: Color of Hidden face outlines

Blending: Degree of transparency for elements assigned with colors

 

Option Value

Color: Change colors

Others... : Assign user-defined colors

Global Option

Seet Background Black: Set the Model Window background to black and use midas Civil defaults for other colors

Set Background White: Set the Model Window background to white and use midas Civil defaults for other colors

Load: Open a color file saved as fn.color and use it as current colors

Save: Save as a fn.color

Default Item: Apply midas Civil default colors to the selected items

Default All: Apply midas Civil default colors to all the selected items of the relevant tab

 

Print Color tab

Select the items in the tree menu to the left, for which printed colors are to be changed or modified. Assign the print colors in the setting list to the right.

The details for each item are identical to those under the Color tab.

 

Size tab

Label Symbol: Control the sizes of symbols and representations

Zoom In / Out: Control the proportions of magnification or reduction

Pan: Control the motion distance of Pan

Rotate: Control the proportion of the rotation angle

Shrink: Control the proportion of element shrinkage

Perspective: Control the proportion of element shrinkage

 

Draw tab

When displaying nodes or elements in the Model Window, define the method of expressions and representing directions for drawing, shear force and moment diagrams.

Element Color : Assign the color selection method when displaying elements on the screen

Global Color : Apply the colors defined in 'Global' of the Color tab

Element Type Color : Apply the colors defined for different types of elements (truss, beam, etc.) in the Color tab

Material Color : Apply the colors defined in Material of the Color tab

Property Color : Apply the colors defined in Section or Thickness of the Color tab

 

Hidden Option (Model)

Fill : Apply the colors defined in the Color tab to the elements' hidden faces

Outline : Represent only the outlines colored with the colors defined in the Color tab when Hidden is applied to elements

Fill and Outline : Color all the hidden faces and outlines

Frame Thickness : Represent the section thicknesses of line elements

Plane Thickness : Represent the thicknesses of plate elements

 

Hidden Option (Undeformed Shape)

Wireframe : Represent the undeformed model only as a wire frame when displaying the deformed shape

Outline : Represent the undeformed model only by elements' outlines when displaying the deformed shape

Frame Thickness : Represent the undeformed model reflecting line elements' thicknesses when displaying the deformed shape

Plane Thickness : Represent the undeformed model reflecting plate elements' thicknesses when displaying the deformed shape

 

Snap / Select Option

Control the line width of the element local axes when the element is snapped and the width of lines representing the selected elements.

Wireframe Width : Width of the lines representing Snap or Select when displaying the model with wire frame

Hidden Width : Width of the lines representing Snap or Select when displaying the model by Hidden Line Removal

Draw Temporary Local Axis : Assign whether to represent the nodes or element numbers and the element local axes of snapped elements

NOTE.png The element's local axes are displayed according to the sequence of node assignment during the generation of elements.

 

Print Color Option

Black/White Printing : Print in B/W

Color Printing (View) : Apply the colors defined in the Color tab

Color Printing (Setting) : Apply the colors defined in the Print Color tab

 

Inactivated Object : Assign the representation method of nodes and elements inactivated by Activity.

Show Elemet, Node : Represent the inactivated nodes and elements by only the outlines with the defined colors in Element > Inactive of the Color tab

Including Zoom Fit : Zoom fit the working window including the inactivated nodes and elements represented by their outlines

 

Beam Diagram : Specify drawing directions for shear/moment diagrams of beam elements.

Inverse Moment Diagram : Invert the drawing direction of bending moment diagram such that positive and negative sides are reversed

Inverse Shear Diagram : Invert the drawing direction of shear diagram in the opposite direction to the element's local axes

 

SRC/Composition Line Width : Line thickness of the concrete outlines in structural steel-reinforced concrete composite sections.

 

Dynamic Label : Select whether to display the labels corresponding to input data in real time.

 

Floor Load Color : Select the color output type of the floor loads assigned under the Color Tab.

 

Element Line Width : Specify the line thickness for representing the model on the screen.

Line Width (Hidden) : Width of the lines when displaying the model by Hidden

Line Width (Wire Frame) : Width of the lines when displaying the model with wire frame

 

Default Item : Apply defaults provided by midas Civil on the selected Items

Default All : Apply the default values provided by midas Civil for all options in this tab

Default All Options : Apply defaults provided by midas Civil on all the Display Options
