1. Point Grid
Function
- Assign the spacings and display the area of point grids.
- Point grids are displayed according to the initial preferences setting in Environment View of Tools > Preference. Use the function to change the preferences temporarily.
- Point grids are displayed in the UCS x-y plane. Use View > Grids to display or not to display the point grids. Use the function in conjunction with Point Grid Snap for convenience.
Call
From the main menu, select [View] tab > [Grids/Snap] group > [Grids] > [Define Grid] > [Point Grid]
Input
Fig. Point Grid Dialog Box
Grid Spaces
dx, dy
Point grid spacings in the UCS x, y-directions.
Enter only dx if dx and dy are equal.
Model Boundary
Enter the grid boundary if the point grids are to be displayed only in a particular range. Check Apply To Grid Boundary.
Enter Xmin, Ymin, Xmax, and Ymax consecutively.
Observe the following examples :
Enter only '20'
Xmin = 0, Ymin = 0, Xmax =20, Ymax =20
Enter Only '20, 30'
Xmin = 0, Ymin = 0, Xmax = 20, Ymax = 30
Enter Only '10, 15, 20, 30'
Xmin = 10, Ymin = 15, Xmax = 20, Ymax = 30
2. Line Grid
Function
- Assign the spacings of line grids to display on the screen.
- Point grids are evenly spaced in each direction whereas line grids may be spaced unevenly.
- Line grids are displayed in the UCS x-y plane. Use View > Grids to display or not to display the line grids. It is more convenient of Line Grid is linked to Snap.
- Line grids may be assigned with names and as such, they can be accessed as necessary.
Call
From the main menu, select [View] tab > [Grids/Snap] group > [Grids] > [Define Grid] > [Line Grid]
Input

Fig. Add/Modify Grid Lines Dialog Box
When defining or adding a new Line Grid
Click Add to enter the following items :
Grid Name
Name of the Line Grid
X-Grid Lines
Click the Add button to enter Line Grids in the UCS x-direction
Absolute : Enter the line grid positions by absolute coordinates
Relative : Enter the line grid positions by relative coordinates (ie, spacings)
Line grids are generated relative to the UCS origin point.
Enter negative numbers if line grids are to be generated in the negative (-) range. Repeated equal spacings may be represented by 'Number of Repetitions@Spacing'.
Y-Grid Lines
Line grids in the UCS y-direction are identically generated following the procedure used to enter X-Grid Lines
To modify the position of an existing Line Grid
Assign the relevant grid in the line grid list and click the Modify button.
To remove an existing Line Grid
Assign the relevant grid in the line grid list and click the Delete button.
