Mode
It is possible to perform equivalent section calculations considering tendons and reinforcements for various sections such as database (DB), prestressed concrete (PSC), tapered sections, composite sections, general sections, and composite general sections.
The software allows for the calculation of equivalent section properties at different positions within the section (1/4, 2/4, 3/4 parts), as well as the ability to verify the locations of tendons and reinforcements within the section.
The functionality of Section Stiffness Scale Factor and Cross Section Viewer has been integrated into a single feature.
Target Section & Element
The assigned elements for each section are displayed in the tree view.
To retrieve the information of the tendon at any arbitrary position within an element, the element needs to be selected.
Part
Select the position (i, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, or j) for which the cross section data of the element is to be produced.
When selected, the section at that position will be displayed in the view. Additionally, the reinforcement and tendon information at that position will be updated in both the view and the table.
View Point
Select the direction based on which the cross section data of the element is to be produced.
Tendon
Display the tendon in the View.
Property Name : Display the Tendon Property Name in the View.
Duct Hall : Display the Duct Hall in the View.
Reinforcement Bar
Display the Reinforcement Bar in the View
Stiffness Scale Factor
Boundary Group : Select a boundary group in which the section stiffness scale factor is to be included.
Scale Factor(I, J) : Enter the scale factor for each stiffness component.
I = J : This becomes active only when the selected section is a tapered section and different section scale factors can be applied to I-end and J-end.
Before : Valid for a composite section. The defined scale factors will be used for the calculation of member forces and stresses for the pre-composite section.
After : Valid for a composite section. The defined scale factors will be used for the calculation of member forces and stresses for the post-composite section.
All : If both Before and After are checked on, the defined scale factors will be used for the calculation of member forces and stresses for the pre- and post-composite sections.
If Es/Ec (Long Term) and Es/Ec (Shrinkage) are defined in the Section Data, Boundary Groups for the Long Term and the Shrinkage are automatically generated and the applied scale factors are displayed as well.
Yield Effective Stiff. : The effective yield moment of the pier section, which can be used when nonlinear analysis is not performed, is automatically calculated according to the provisions of 8.8.2.2(2) in the Highway Bridge Design Code.
Input Data
Pu : Axial force acting on the pier
fck : Design compressive strength of concrete
Ag : Total cross-sectional area of the pier
Iyy, Izz : The second moment of area of the entire section with respect to the centroidal axis, neglecting the reinforcement.
ρl : The longitudinal reinforcement ratio of the pier
When the dimensions of reinforcement are defined in "Rebar Input for Column Section" or "Rebar Input for General Section," the longitudinal reinforcement ratio is automatically calculated.
Output Data
Iyy, Izz : The calculated value of the effective yield 2nd moment of area, determined according to the equation 8.8.2 in the Highway Bridge Design Code, is automatically input as a ratio to the original 2nd moment of area of the section for the Scale Factors of Iyy and Izz.
Area : Cross sectional area
Asy : Effective Shear Area resisting shear forces in the element local y-axis
Asz : Effective Shear Area resisting shear forces in the element local z-axis
Ixx : Torsional Resistance about the element local x-axis
Iyy : Area Moment of Inertia about the element local y-axis
Izz : Area Moment of Inertia about the element local z-axis
Weight : Weight density used for calculating self-weight
Coordinate
Centroid : Display the locations of tendon and reinforcement with reference to the Centroid of the section.
The coordinate system is displayed in the View, based on the Centroid. |
Tendon/rebar data is produced based on the Centroid. |
Left-Bottom : Display the locations of tendon and reinforcement with reference to the Left-Bottom.
The coordinate system is displayed in the View, based on the Left-Bottom. |
Tendon/rebar data is produced based on the Left-Bottom. |
Show Stiffness... : Display the stiffness with Scale Factor, Reinforcement and Tendon taken into account.
