[GEN/Design] In the Analysis Results Diagram, Member Forces are present, But in the Design Calculation Report, the Member Forces are shown as 0

Question

When checking the results through TEXT OUTPUT or BEAM DIAGRAM, there are moments and shear forces in the members, but after automatic design, the member forces (moments, shear forces) show as '0' in the results.

Answer

Please check the settings in Design > General Design Parameter > Definition of Frame.

As shown in the figure below, the Design Type is a feature that specifies whether to perform design with limited member forces generated in members during the design of a 3-dimensional structure.

If a specific plane is selected, only the member forces occurring within that plane will be applied to the member design.

This feature is set to 3-D by default and can be used when designing a continuous structure in the length direction as a planar structure of unit length.

The options are explained as follows:

3 - D : Perform design for all 3-dimensional member forces generated in members.

X - Z Plane : Perform 2-dimensional design allowing only member forces generated within the X-Z plane of the global coordinate system.

Y - Z Plane : Perform 2-dimensional design allowing only member forces generated within the Y-Z plane of the global coordinate system.

X - Y Plane : Perform 2-dimensional design allowing only member forces generated within the X-Y plane of the global coordinate system.
