[Gen/View]How to Set Member Color Transparency

Question

I want to Display an element as translucent, how can I do that?

Answer

The ability to Display with translucency is called Blending. This Blending feature is available from the View/Display Option menu in the Main Menu. The steps are as follows

1. On the Draw tab of the Display Option, select Material Color or Property Color as the Option Value.
Material Color is selected when blending by material, and Property Color is selected when blending by section (Section, Thickness).

2. When blending by material

On the Color tab of the Display Option, select Material from the Selection Item. This will list all the Materials being used in the model.

For each Material, there is an item called Blending. Selecting it brings up the following features that allow you to further define the Blending in the Option Value section on the right side of the dialog box.

Here, select Blending to Yes and adjust the Factor.

When the Factor is 0, the material in question will be displayed as transparent. Conversely, when the Factor is 1, it will be displayed as opaque. In other words, a Factor of 1 results in the same effect as not using Blending.

3. Blending by section(Section, Thickness)

Select Section or Thickness from the Selection Item on the Color tab of the Display Option. This will list all the Sections or Thicknesses being used in the model.

The rest of the process is done in the same way as the previous Blending by Material example.

4. Click the Apply button at the bottom of the Display Option dialog box to display the blending effect as specified.
