[Gen/Result]When Modeling Beam Elements Between Plate Walls Leads to Singular Errors

Question

When modeling walls as Plate elements and gaps between the walls as Beam elements, I encounter a Singular Error and significant displacement.

Answer

When modeling walls as Plate elements, if you wish to consider in-plane rotational freedom, you should enable the "With Drilling DOF" option while modeling.

In midas Gen, it's common practice to model walls as Wall elements. Wall elements include in-plane rotational stiffness degrees of freedom when connected to Beam elements in the in-plane direction. Therefore, if you have chosen to model walls as Plate elements for detailed analysis or for specific reasons, you should turn on the "With Drilling DOF" option to account for the in-plane rotational stiffness degrees of freedom.
