[GEN/Result]What is the Avg. Nodal Active Only Feature and When is it used?

Question

What is the Avg. Nodal Active Only feature , and when is it used?

Answer

Generally, the Element option is used in areas where the flow of forces is interrupted, while the Avg. Nodal option is used in areas where the flow of forces is not interrupted.

When applying the Avg. Nodal option in areas where the flow of forces is not interrupted, it is essential to use the Avg. Nodal Active Only feature.

For instance, when resisting lateral forces, you can use the Element option to check the member forces. However, if the slab shape is not symmetric around the column, and you want to design the slab using the average values around the joints, you can use the Avg. Nodal Active Only feature to check the slab's member forces.
