Function

  • Select whether the structure is transverse constrained: Compressed material is mainly considered in the design by expanding the bending moment of the compressed material, and the calculation method varies depending on whether the structure is transverse constrained or not. In this dialog box, you select whether or not the structure is transversely constrained to calculate the enlarged bending moment of the compression material.
  • Select design plane (dimension) : Choose whether to design by considering all the member forces generated on the three axes of the structure or to perform the design by considering only the member forces generated on a specific plane.
  • Select whether to calculate the effective buckling length coefficient automatically: When automatic calculation is selected, the program automatically calculates the effective buckling length of the member by the built-in algorithm.

Definition of Frame dialog box

Definition of Frame

Define the type of structural frame.

X-Direction of Frame

Select Unbraced | Sway or Braced | Non-sway frame in the global X-direction (Default = Unbraced | Sway).

Y-Direction of Frame

Select Unbraced | Sway or Braced | Non-sway frame in the global Y-direction (Default = Unbraced | Sway).

Design Type

Specifies whether the design should be carried out by limiting some of the member forces generated by the member when designing a three-dimensional structure.
When a particular plane is selected, only the member forces within that plane are applied to the member design.

3D : Calculate the forces for and design all the members.

X-Z Plane : Calculate the forces for and design all the members parallel with X-Z Plane.

Y-Z Plane : Calculate the forces for and design all the members parallel with Y-Z Plane.

X-Y Plane : Calculate the forces for and design all the members parallel with X-Y Plane.

When the design is performed by specifying a specific plane, the selected off-plane design variables and design member forces are limited.<></>

Auto Calculate Effective Length Factors

Select if the effective buckling length factors are to be automatically calculated.

OK

Enter the selection and close the dialog box.

Close

Do not enter the selection and close the dialog box.
