Shear Coefficient (Cv)

Function

  • Use this function to enter the Shear Coefficient (Cv) required to calculate the design shear strength or the allowable shear stress due to the shear force in I and C sections in the strong axis direction (z-direction).

 

Call

From main menu, select [Design] tab > [Type : Steel Design] > [Design Input Data] group > [Design Parameters] > [Shear Coefficient (Cv)]

 

Input

First, select the members in the model and enter the following :


Option

Select Add/Replace or Delete.

Add/Replace : Add the newly entered value or replace the previously entered value.
Delete : Delete the entered value. Data entry is not required when deleting.


Shear Coefficient

Enter the shear coefficient.

Cv : Shear coefficient
Calculate by Program
Select this item if the value is to be auto-calculated by the program.

apply.png : Apply the entered value to the selected members.

close.png : Close the entry Dialog Bar.


NOTE.png (1)
When the value of the shear coefficient (Cv) is repeatedly entered for the same members, the value will be updated to the last value entered.

NOTE.png (2)
The entered values for the shear coefficient (Cv) can be reviewed in the data table arranged in the order of element numbers. The user may Modify/Add and Delete items in the data table.
Access the data table following the procedure below.

From the Main Menu select Design > Steel Design Parameter > Steel Design Tables > Shear Coefficient (Cv).
From the Tables tab of the Tree Menu select Design Tables > Steel Design Table > Shear Coefficient (Cv).
