Define Flange & Web

Function

  • This function is used to define the flange and web as per the classification defined in the Eurocode ( EN 1993-1-1:2005). The distinction is necessary for the program to distinguish the top flange, bottom flange and the web for the determination of the Section Class as per the code for the Composite General Section generated using SPC. This function is not required for the composite plate girder (defined using the section database of midas Civil).
  • The user must define the individual parts of the steel part.

 

Call

From the main menu, select [Design] tab > [Type : Steel Composite Design] > [Design Input Data] group > [Design Parameters] > [Define Flange&Web]

Define Flange & Web


Target Section & Element

Select a Section for which the parts are to be defined.


Both end parts (I&J) have the same Design Group

Specify whether the definition of parts is same for the two ends ( I and J ).


Group Name

Specify the group name viz Top Flange, Bottom Flange and Web. The Group Name can be specified after clicking ....png.

After clicking ....png, the following window will appear:

Group Name : Specify the Group Name.

Group Type : Specify the Group Type.

After specifying the Group Name and Type Click Add.

Each Separate web must be assigned an individual group name. It affects the calculation of shear resistance and the classification of the cross section.


Part Name

Specify the part name for the selected member.


Part Type

Specify the part type for the part. The part type can be defined as Internal or Outstand as defined in EN 1993-1-1:2005.

1. The parts must be defined as different. [For more details.]
