Section for Design

Function

  • Member design and strength verification of structural steel or concrete sections based on the section data defined by the user.

 

 

Call

From main menu, select [Design] tab > [Design Section] group > [Section for Design]

 

Input

Use the following dialog box to enter the data:

: Select a section name from the list to display the following dialog box

Section ID: Section number

Name: Section name

: Pull-down list for sectional shapes

User: User-defined section

DB: Section Database Name

Note
The Section Database Names built-in MIDAS/Civil are as follows:

'AISC2K (US)': American Institute of Steel Construction 2000, US Unit : lb, in

'AISC2K (SI)': American Institute of Steel Construction 2000, SI Unit : kN, m, mm

'AISC': American Institute of Steel Construction

'CISC02 (US)': Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, US Unit : lb, in

'CISC02 (SI)': Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, SI Unit : kN, m, mm

'BS': British Standards

'DIN': Deutshes Institute Fur Normung e.v.

Sect. Name: Section name

Built-Up Section: Classification of components

Note
The parameters noted below signify the sectional components of a built-up section. The allowable stress reduction factor for built-up sections is reflected in strength verification according to AISC-ASD89. If unchecked, rolled sections are applied.

H: Section height (depth)

B1: Width of first flange

tw: Thickness of web

tf1: Thickness of first flange

B2: Width of the second flange

tf2: Thickness of second flange

: Calculate and display the sectional properties of the selected section.

: Apply the entered values or the selection and close the dialog box.

: Cancel the command.

: Enter the values for the selected section.
