Define Rating Case

Function

  • Assign the Bridge Load Rating Setting to the corresponding structure.

 

Call

From the main menu, select [Rating] tab > [Type : Steel Bridge] > [Steel Bridge : AASHTO] >  [Rating Input Data] group > [Define Rating Case]

 

Input

Static Load Combination

Service Limit State : Select the design condition of Service Limit State.

Strength Limit State : Select the design condition of Strength Limit State.

Fatigue Limit State : Select the design condition of Fatigue Limit State.

Load Type : Display the Load Type considered for Rating Design.

DC(Before) : Enter the Load Factor for DC of non-composite section. DC is the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments. When construction stage is defined in the model file, the program automatically takes DC(Before) as the dead load right before the composite action.

max : The maximum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments.

min : The minimum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments.

DC(After) : Enter the Load Factor for DC of composite section. DC is the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments.

max : The maximum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments.

min : The minimum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of structural components and non-structural attachments.

DW : Enter the factor of DW. DW is the dead load of wearing surfaces and utilities.

max : The maximum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of wearing surfaces and utilities.

min : The minimum LRFD Load factor for the dead load of wearing surfaces and utilities.

Secondary : Input the load factor for the indeterminate force generated by the creep and shrinkage in an indeterminate structure.

Temperature : Input the load factor for the force due to Temperature Load.

User Defined : Input the load factor for a user-defined force.

Load Cases can be only selected from static loads and construction loads.


Live Load Combination

Primary Vehicle : Select the Primary Vehicle live load for Bridge Load Rating Design and enter the corresponding factor.

Adjacent Vehicle : Select the Adjacent Vehicle live load for Bridge Load Rating Design and enter the corresponding factor.

Evaluation Live Load Model :  Select live load model to apply the limiting stresses of the corresponding vehicle load in Service Limit State. Limiting stress can be defined in Rating Parameter.

Design Live Load

Legal Load / Permit Load

Design Live Load : Design live load for Service or Strength limit state

Legal Load : Legal load for Service or Strength limit state

Permit Load : Permit load for Service or Strength limit state

LRFD : Truck weight is considered as per LRFD Design, Article 3.6.1.4, for Fatigue limit state

Truck Survey : Truck weight is estimated through weigh-in-motion study, for Fatigue limit state

Evaluation Method : Select the type of analysis being done

Refined Analysis : Stress range is obtained from refined analysis

Simplified Analysis : Stress range is obtained from simplified analysis


Name of Rating Case

Enter the name at Name of Rating Case.


Description

Enter a brief description for Rating Case at Description.

modify.png : Modify a Rating Case.

delete.png : Delete a Rating Case.
