Diagnostic Test Result

Function

  • Adjustment factor resulting from the comparison of measured test behavior with the analytical model can be considered to calculate the load-rating factor based on the test result.

Call

From the main menu, select [Rating] tab > [Type : Steel Bridge] > [Steel Bridge : AASHTO] >  [Rating Input Data] group > [Rating Parameters] > [Diagnostic Test Result]

Input

Option

Add/Replace : Add/Replace the rating option to the selected element for design

Delete : Delete the rating option defined previously for the selected element

Define Rating

Position

I : Enter the diagnostic test results only at i-end.

J: Enter the diagnostic test results only at j-end.

I & J : Enter the diagnostic test results at both ends.

Load Test Measurement

Auto-Calculation

Strain / Displ.(I) : Maximum strain or displacement measured during load test at i-end

Strain / Displ.(J) : Maximum strain or displacement measured during load test at j-end

NOTE.png
Measured value can be entered as Strain or Displacement. It can be specified in Rating Parameter.

Kb : Factor for the understanding of the load test results when compared with those predicted by theory. Refer to the figure below from Table 8.8.2.3.1-1 of The Manual for Bridge Evaluation, 2011.

Values for Kb

NOTE.png
When Auto-Calculation is selected, the Adjustment Factor is calculated as below.

K=1 + Ka Kb
where, Ka=εC/εT-1
εC = Maximum strain or displacement measured during load test
εT = Corresponding calculated strain or displacement by the program

User Input

Adjustment Factor, K : Enter the adjustment factor directly from the manual calculation.
