  • Select the element for which shear connector data will be entered and enter the required data in the dialog box, then the list of selected elements will be displayed. In midas Civil, shear connectors should be inputted by elements. Elements having different shear connectors should be inputted separately.

Call

From the main menu, select [Rating] tab > [Type : Steel Bridge] > [Assessment Code : CS454/20] > [Assessment Input Data] group > [Assessment Parameters] > [Shear Connector]

Input

First, select the members in the model and enter the following data:

Both end parts (I & j) have the same shear connector : Check the box if the shear connector is identical for both ends i and j of an element. Once the shear connector data is entered under I tab, an identical data will be automatically entered under J tab.

Shear Connector Detail

Number of Studs per Web (Transverse) : Number of shear connectors along the transverse direction

Longitudinal Spacing : Longitudinal spacing of studs

Initial Mean Strength (Pim) : The nominal initial mean static strength.

L. Shear Range by SFV (Pr) : The range of the longitudinal shear in the connector from passage of an SFV.

Maximum Ratio (q/qr) : The ratio of the shear flow to the longitudinal shear resistance for ULS. The maximum ratio for SLS is taken as 1.0.

Equivalent no. of SFV (Na) : The equivalent number of Standard Fatigue Vehicles (SFC) as defined in BS 5400-10.
