Question
What are Tangential, Parallel, and Sweep Lock options?
Answer
Tangential, Parallel, and Sweep Lock options allow you to generate a variety of 3D-shapes.
You can control it by setting the constraint of the cross section that creates the shape along the path.
Assume that there are cross sections and paths as follows.
Create a 3D-shape according to the option, as shown in the table below.
[Advance] Lock Option: Description of Direction
Let's look at how features are created in three identical paths along the direction of the Lock Direction.
Step1.
Find the Cross product of Path Tangent and Lock Direction.
Step2.
Generate the final shape by placing the cross section on the three axis space formed by the Path Tangent and the Cross product.
[Advance] Lock Option: Description of Path&Direction
Let's look at how features are created in three identical paths along the direction of the Lock Direction.
Step1.
Find the vector for the Path Tangent projection on a plane with the Lock Direction as its axis.
(The subsequent process is the same as the Directions option.)
Step2.
Find the Cross product of projected vector and Lock Direction.
Step3.
Generate the final shape by placing the cross section on the three axis space formed by the Path Tangent and the Cross product.
