Intro
Aligns the Local z-axis of a plate element to the Reference Point.
This can be useful when aligning the local axis of a cylindrical structure.

Plate element local axis alignment
Version
- v1.0.0 : Release
Applicable Standards
- General Use
Benefits of this plugin
This can be used to align the local axis of a structure relative to a specific point
How to use this plugin?
- Select Elements : After selecting the elements in midas Civil, click plug in window to enter.
- Reference Point : Enter the coordinates of the node to which the local z-axis will be aligned. The local z-axis will be aligned to that nodal point.
Note
The logic for aligning the local axis of a Plate element is as follows:
-
Calculate the normal vector along the local direction of plate elements.
-
Computes the vector from the center of the plane to the Reference Point.
-
If the angle between the vectors is less than 90 degrees, it will not align on the local axis; if it is greater than 90, it will reverse the orientation of the plate element and align on the opposite axis.
Conclusion
You can easily invert the axis of certain elements.
