Union Created Edited

Solid

Summary

  • Merges the solids of 1D, 2D member or a 3D Body.

How to Run

  • Ribbon Menu > [Edit] Tab > [Edit Shape] Group > Union > Solid

Explanation

Union(Solid) Feature

This feature merges the selected objects into a single Solid.

[Select Target]

Master Object : Select the object to use as a property reference object for the newly created object that will result after the merge.

Other Object : Select the object to be merged with the Master object.

Note
Because only the 3D Solid of the selected object is merged, the 1D lines or the 2D faces in the original object are not retained in the merged objcet.

Note
After the merge, the merged object is created over the originial objects and does not replace them. If the original objects are no longer needed, they must be deleted afterwards.

Detailed Explanation (Comparison with Union Surface)

The example shown aboves shows a pair of 2D Members with the Union feature applied.

When using the Union (Solid) feature, set the 3D Solid of the selected objects as targets for merge, and assign the properties of the Master object. Hence, as shown in the properties window on the left, the newly created object is a 3D Member with Solid geometry information, that is a combination of the Solids extracted from the initial 2D Member objects. In contrast, when using the Union (Surface) feature, set the 2D Face of the selected objects as targets for merge, and assign the properties of the Master object. Hence, as shown in the properties window on the right, the newly created object is a 2D Member with Plane geometry information, that is a combination of the faces extracted from the initial 2D Member objects.
