Question
After arraying the transverse rebar in the deck slab, half of the rebar's cross-section is outside the deck slab. How can I move the rebar inside?
Answer
This issue occurs due to the rebar cover distance from the start and end plane properties. We can modify these properties by following the steps below:
1. Open the library where this issue is occurring. First, using the mouse, Select the transverse rebar that is projecting out of the concrete deck slab.
2. Click on the 'Rebar Properties' tab.
3. The 'Property' tab will be selected by default.
4. The 'From Start Plane' and 'From End Plane' options will be set to zero by default. These options define the rebar's location relative to the start and end planes. To move the rebar inside the deck slab, we need to modify these values.
5. Enter 50mm in both the 'From Start Plane' and 'From End Plane' fields.
6. Scroll to the bottom and click on the Green Tick to apply these changes.
7. You will now observe that the top transverse rebar has moved inside the deck slab and is no longer visible. Additionally, the longitudinal rebar associated with the transverse rebar has also shifted inside the deck slab.
8. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to move the bottom rebars inside as shown below.
9. To verify these changes, click on the 'Base' ribbon.
10. Select the 'View' option.
11. Click on the 'Colour & Transparency' tab (2nd tab).
12. Under 'Display Mode', the 'Shading + Edge' option will be selected by default.
13. Click on the 'Transparency' tab.
14. Under 'Concrete Member', select 'Mono', from the drop-down list.
15. Enter 0.5 in the cell below. This represents 50% transparency for the concrete object.
16. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the Green Tick to apply these changes.
17. Now, you can observe that the rebars are located inside the deck slab.
