Answer
Follow these steps to create terrain profile in CIM using DWG contour line data:
Importing the DWG file in CIM project:
Step 1: Click on the CIM icon at the top-left corner of the application window
Step 2: Click on the Import option
- Alternatively, press Ctrl+1 key on keyboard to open the Import DWG dialog box
Step 3: Choose DWG/DXF file option
An Import DWG file dialogue box shall appear on the screen.
Step 4: Select the DWG file which contains contour data
Step 5: Click on Open button
Note: If the contour lines in the DWG file use Geographic Coordinates, ensure the correct Geographic Coordinates are set in CIM before importing.
Once you click on Open button, in CIM, a menu panel shall appear on the left of model window
Step 6: Click on Apply button at the bottom of menu panel to import the contour line.
Now the contour lines have been imported into our CIM file.

Note: User can choose the type of Boundary area he wants to model for the given terrain profile. Brief about the Boundary area definition methods is provided below:
- Path: Creates an offset boundary along a selected path
- Bounding Box: Forms a rectangular boundary around the outermost points
- Closest Fit: Connects the innermost points to create the boundary
- User defined: Allows manual boundary creation
Step 12: Assign the Depth of terrain (Optional)
Step 13: Click on Apply button to generate the Terrain profile
A terrain model will be created based on the imported contour lines.
By following these steps, you can efficiently generate a terrain profile in CIM using DWG contour files.
