Question
How can the existing cutting property of a member be removed in CIM?
Answer
To understand how to remove a cutting property that has already been assigned to libraries in CIM, let's consider the following example.
Assume that we have already assigned a cutting property to the Girder and Diaphragm libraries. The Girder is assigned as the Tool Member, and the Diaphragm is defined as the Target Member. After assigning both these libraries in the Assembly Unit, it will appear as follows. We can observe that the Diaphragm is cut at the intersection with the Girder.
Steps to Remove an Assigned Cutting Property in CIM
-
Open the Girder Curve Library.
-
Click on the 'Model' ribbon.
-
Click on the 'Cutting' option.
-
In the 'Cutting Property' panel, click on the 'Remove Cutting Property' option.
-
Since the cutting property is applied between different libraries, the 'General' option would have been used when defining it. Now, under 'Cutting Property Type', select 'General' from the drop-down menu.
-
Using the left mouse button, select the Girder.
-
Click the Green Tick Icon in the Cutting Property panel to apply the changes.
-
Click the Green Tick Icon at the top to save the changes to the Girder Curve Library and exit to Base Mode.
-
In the dialog box that appears, click 'Yes' to confirm the changes.
-
Open the Diaphragm Curve Library.
-
Repeat steps 2–9 for the Diaphragm member.
-
Once this is done, open the Assembly Unit, and you will observe that the cutting property has been removed and the Diaphragm now acts as a single member.
This is the process of removing an existing cutting property from a member in CIM.
