Answer

In CIM, when working in user section mode to quickly define section shape from any external reference data, the program allows to import DWG/DXF files.

In the image above, a sample of the external reference data in CAD is shown in the left and the final output of user section shape in CIM is shown in the right.
Now, lets understand the steps to create the above in CIM.

Step 1- In the Base ribbon, click on User Section drop down menu.

Step 2- From the user section drop down menu, click DWG File. This is highlighted in the image below

Step 3- A window to open the DWG/DXF file shall be displayed, choose the required DWG file and click                  Open. This is highlighted in the image below.

Step 4- Under the Select Layer sub function keep the layer (0) with CAD section active and uncheck all                     other layers.

Now, we observe that the message window at the left bottom of the interface shall display a message
"1 profiles are generated" which states the successful creation of the user section shape.
In the Worktree, under the Data sub menu, the User Section sub function adds the newly created user section, this is highlighted in the image below.

To verify the user section shape created.
Step 6- In the Worktree, under the user section, use the cursor right click.

Step 7- Now, with the property options displayed click Modify. This is highlighted in the image below.

The user section is displayed in the model space as shown in the image below.
