How to define rigid link between PSC Box superstructure and bearing top?

Answer

To define rigid link between PSC Box superstructure and bearing top , follow the steps as mentioned below.

Step 1: Open the Assembly unit in which both the PSC Box superstructure library and the Pier library are assigned.

Step 2: Click on the 'Model' ribbon.

Step 3: Click on the 'Boundary' option.

Step 4: From the drop-down menu select 'Rigid' option.

Step 5: In the 'Rigid Link' panel displayed in the left, select the 'Vertex to 1D member' option from the drop-down menu. We are selecting this option as the PSC Box member is usually defined as 1D member and it would be connected to the top vertex of bearing.

Step 6: Under the 'Select Target' section, vertex tab would be highlighted. Now let's select the vertex located at the top of the bearing.

Step 7: Click on the '1D Member' tab, so that it shall be highlighted.

Step 8: Select the PSC Box member above the bearing using the mouse cursor.

Step 9: Under the 'Degrees of Freedom' section, select the 'Rigid' radio button.

Step 10: Under the 'Master point' section, select the '1D Member' radio button.

Step 11: Click on the 'Green Tick' to apply these changes.

You can now observe that rigid link(shown in red colour) has been defined between PSC Box superstructure and the bearing top.
