How to define Analysis case in CIM?

Answer

Consider that you have already created the members and assigned the boundary conditions, then follow the steps mentioned below to create analysis case.

Step 1: Click on the 'Application' ribbon.

Step 2: Click on the 'Analysis Case' ribbon.

Step 3: To create a new analysis case, click on the 'Define' option.

Step 4: If we want to generate an analytical model without construction stages, Select the 'General Analysis' radio button.

[Note: If you have defined construction stages in the CIM Model, then select the 'Construction Stage Analysis' radio button for exporting the construction stages to CIVIL NX.

Step 5: Under the Classification section, define the name of the analysis case.

Step 6: Under the 'Method' section, select the 'By Select' radio button.

Step 7: Under the 'Select Target' section, click on the '1D Element' to select the beam elements.

Step 8: Select the beam elements to be exported to CIVIL NX using the mouse cursor.

Step 9: Similarly select plate elements using the '2D Element' option.

Step 10: Click on the 'Boundary Condition' tab and select the boundary conditions using mouse cursor.

Step 11: Select the mesh size for the 1D element using the drop-down list under the 'Mesh Size' option. You can select either the 'Division' or 'Length' option.

Step 12: Select the mesh size for the 2D element using the drop-down list under the 'Mesh Size' option. You can select either the 'Division' or 'Length' option.

Step 13: Define the value of the mesh thickness.

Step 14: If you want to export self weight to CIVIL NX, then check on the 'Self Weight' tab.

Step 15: As self weight acts along negative Z-direction, enter the value '-1' in the 3rd cell.

[Note: Here 1st cell represents X-axis, 2nd cell represents Y-axis and 3rd cell represents Z-axis.]

Step 16: Click on the 'Green Tick'.

You can now observe that the analysis case is defined under the Data tab of Worktree.
