How can a user create a bridge alignment with horizontal curvature (arc) in MIDAS CIM?

 

Answer

Follow the steps below to create an Arc type Alignment in CIM:

 

In the Base mode of CIM,

Step 1: Go to Base Ribbon

Step 2: Under the dropdown menu of Layout, choose the "Create Edit" option

 

The Layout menu panel and sub-panel shall be displayed:

 

In the sub-panel,

Step 3: Navigate to "Horizontal Alignment" option

Step 4: Under "Type" column, change the profile from Straight to Arc

 

Step 5: In the Length column and R (Radius) column add the value of Arc Length and Radius of alignment, respectively.

Step 6: Click on Apply button to model the alignment.

[Note: You can verify the preview of the alignment in the Preview panel.]

 

The image presented below is the outcome of the above mentioned example (Arc Length= 30 m and Radius= 150m)

This is how an Arc profile can be added to the horizontal plan of a bridge alignment in MIDAS CIM.
