[CIM] How can I create a user section profile from a member's surface without entering the User Section Mode?

Question

How can I create a user section profile from a member's surface without entering the User Section Mode?

Answer

Follow the steps below to extract the surface of a member as a user section in CIM:

Step 1: In the Base ribbon, navigate to the dropdown of the User section tool and choose the Extract option

[Note: This option is available in all 4 major modes, i.e., Point Library mode, Curve Library mode, Assembly unit mode, and Base mode.]

Step 2: Assign the Name for your section

Step 3: Select the Material Type

Step 4: Select the Target member from which you want to extract the user-section surface

Under the Define plane section,
Step 5: Click on the "Select Plane" option (User can choose the plane definition method as per their convenience.)

Step 6: Using the mouse left-click button, select the required Surface

Under the Origin point section, the Pick option will be available after defining the plane.

Step 7: Using the mouse left-click button, assign the pick location

[Note: This pick point location will work as a reference point location for the extracted section.]

[Note: If you are not able to access the pick tab, then check the Reverse direction option. Once clicked, the option pick point option will be visible.]

Step 8: Click on    to extract and save the user section from the member

The resultant user section of the above mentioned process is shown below:

This is how easily, in CIM, you can extract and save the user-section profile from the existing member surface.
