- Check Shear Force Diagram (SFD) and Bending Moment Diagram (BMD) for beam elements.
- In the case of performing P-Delta analysis, the internal displacements of the beam are calculated to obtain accurate bending moments.
In P-Delta analysis, the moments at internal points of the beam, excluding the endpoints, should be calculated by considering the additional moments generated by the product of displacements at both endpoints and the P-Delta load. This calculation is necessary for accurate results. Previously, this calculation was not incorporated as it required determining the displacements at arbitrary points inside the beam. However, by improving the analysis, it is now possible to calculate the displacements at internal points and accurately calculate the moments in P-Delta analysis.
This feature is applicable only to beam elements.
From main menu, select [Results] tab > [Results] group > [Forces] > [Beam Diagrams]

Select a desired load case, load combination or envelope case.
The Construction Stage applicable for the output of the construction stage analysis is defined in Select Construction Stage for Display or Stage Toolbar. Click to the right to enter new or modify existing load combinations. (Refer to "Load Cases / Combinations")
Specify the step for which the analysis results are to be produced. The Step is defined in geometric nonlinear analysis as Load Step, and additional steps are defined in the construction stages of bridges or heat of hydration analyses.
When checking the "THall, MVall Load Case" or "Envelope All" options, both the Max and Min diagrams are displayed simultaneously. If unchecked, the diagram displays the value with the greatest absolute magnitude among the Max and Min values.
Select the desired member force component among the following:
Part : Select a specific part for which member forces will be produced. This function is activated when parts are defined in the Composite Section for Construction Stage.
Fx : Axial force in the element's local x-direction
When axial force (Fx) is selected, and "Show Truss Force" is checked, truss member forces are simultaneously produced. When axial force (Fx) is selected and "Only Truss Force" is checked, only the truss member forces are generated.
Mx : Torsional moment about the element's local x-axis
Fy : Shear force in the element's local y-direction
Fz : Shear force in the element's local z-direction
Fyz : Shear forces, Fy & Fz displayed simultaneously
My : Bending moment about the element's local y-axis
Mz : Bending moment about the element's local z-axis
Myz : Bending moment, My & Mz displayed simultaneously
Mb : Bi-moment
Mt : Twisting moment
Mw : Warping moment
If the 7-degree-of-freedom option is not selected in the Section Property, the options related to the 7-degree-of-freedom component forces will not be activated.
Show Truss Force : Output option to produce truss member forces simultaneously. In the case of cable bridges, it is possible to simultaneously examine the member forces of both the girders and the cables.
Only Truss Force : Output option to produce truss member forces only
Exact : Display the member forces calculated by the Detail Analysis process all along the length of each beam element including both end nodes.
Exact option is applicable to linear static analysis only. Thus, the option is inactivated when moving load cases, nonlinear analysis load cases or Envelope load combinations are selected.
5 Points : Display the member forces calculated at both end nodes and the quarter points of each beam element. The diagram is presented by connecting the 5 points.
No Fill : Display only the outline representing the magnitudes of the member forces.
Line Fill : Display the diagram filled in with color lines.
Solid Fill : Display the diagram filled in with color surfaces.
Scale : Drawing scale for member forces.
Type of Display
Define the type of display as follows:
Contour : Display the member forces of beam elements in contour.
Deform : Display the deformed shape of the model.
Values : Display the member forces of beam elements in numerical values.
Legend : Display various references related to analysis results to the right or left of the working window.
Animate : Dynamically simulate the member forces of beam elements.
Undeformed : Overlap the undeformed and deformed shapes of the model.
Mirrored : "Mirrored" allows the user to expand the analysis results obtained from a half or quarter model into the results for the full model by reflecting planes.
Quick View : Display the Beam Force Detail Diagram for an element in a separate window.
Current Step Force : Display only the member forces generated in the current stage during the construction phase.
Output Section Location
Assign the section locations at which member forces of the beam elements are produced in numerical values.
I : Display the member force at the start node (N1) of a beam element.
Center : Display the member force at the center of a beam element.
J : Display the member force at the end node (N2) of a beam element.
Abs Max : Maximum absolute values of member forces among the 5 points of (4-sectioned) beam elements are displayed at the centers of the beam elements.
Min/Max : Minimum and maximum member forces are numerically displayed at the corresponding locations among the 5 points of (4-sectioned) beam elements.
All : The member forces at the i-end, center and j-end are numerically displayed.
(Batch Output Generation)
Given the types of analysis results for Graphic outputs, generate consecutively graphic outputs for selected load cases and combinations. A total number of files equal to the products of the numbers of checked items in the three columns of the dialog box below are created.
: Batch Output Generation : Assign a Base File Name under which the types of results (selection data in the Batch Output Generation dialog box for graphic outputs) are stored.
: Batch Output Generation : Specify the Base Files to perform Batch Output Generation, construction stages, load cases (combinations), steps, etc. in the following dialog box.
Saved Menu-Bar Info's : Listed here are the Base Files. Select the Base File Names for Batch Output.
Delete the selected : Delete all the Base Files selected with the mouse.
When the construction stage analysis is carried out, all the construction stages are listed. We simply select the stages of interests to be included in the batch output. If no construction stage analysis is performed, the column in the dialog box becomes inactive and lists load (combination) conditions.
The results output of all the construction stages are produced. The construction stages are listed below.
Post CS Loads
The results output for only the Final Stage are produced. The construction stages are listed below. If no construction stage analysis is performed, the load (combination) conditions are listed.
Apply only the (saved) step or load (combination) condition selected at the time of creating each Base File.
When the construction stage analysis is carried out, the auto-generated construction stage load conditions and the additionally entered construction stage load combinations are listed. Check on only the load (combination) conditions that will be used to produce batch outputs. This column becomes inactive if "Post CS Loads" is selected or no construction stage analysis is carried out.
Specify the steps for which the outputs will be produced when the construction stage analysis or large displacement geometric nonlinear analysis is performed.
Saved Step : Use only the steps used for creating the Base Files
All Steps : Use all the steps
Output File Type
Select a Graphic File type, either BMP or EMF.
Auto Description : At the top left of the Graphic Outputs produced in batch, auto-generate and include the notes such as the types and components of the analysis results, construction stages and steps, load (combination) conditions, etc. The font size, color, type, etc. can be changed upon clicking the button.
Specify the path for saving the graphic files to be produced in batch.
File Prefix : Specify the prefix of the Graphic Files to be created. The filenames will be consisted of "Prefix"_"Base File Name"_"Load Comb.".bmp(emf) or "Prefix"_"Base File Name"_"Stage"_"Stage LCase"_"Step".bmp(emf).
Make Output : Produce the specified batch Graphic Files reflecting the contents of the dialog box.
Export / Import
Produce the contents of data input in the Base Files and Batch Output Generation dialog box in a binary type file (fn.bog). Click the Import button and select a fn.bog to use the same output format.
Import /Export is only meaningful for different projects. In a given structural model, the Base Files are automatically stored and listed.
