Rotate Nodes

Function

Move or copy existing nodes by rotating about a particular axis.

Call

From the Main Menu select [Node/Element] tab > [General] group > [Rotate] > [Rotate Node]

Input

Click the [...] button to the right of Rotate Nodes : Display the Node Table

Start Node Number

Enter a starting node number for the newly created nodes. This number is auto-set to the largest node number in use +1. To modify this item, click the [...] button and select an option to specify a desired number.

Mode

Copy : To copy nodes

Move : To move nodes

Rotation

Equal angle : To copy nodes at an equal angle of rotation

Number of Times : Number of repetitions

Angle of Rotation : Angle of rotation for copying

> 0 : Copy (or move) about the rotation axis using the right hand rule

< 0 : Copy (or move) about the rotation axis opposite to the right hand rule

Unequal Angle : To copy nodes by rotation at unequal angles

Angle : Unequal angles for rotation

Distance (radial) / Distance (axial)
Specify distances in radial and rotational axis directions when copying nodes by rotating them by a given rotational angle (spiral or helical curve shape)

Axis of Rotation : Selection field to assign the rotational axis

About x - axis : UCS x-axis

About y - axis : UCS y-axis

About z - axis : UCS z-axis

About axis defined by 2 pts. : A line connecting two points defining the axis of rotation

1st point

Enter the coordinates of a point when About x, y, z axis is selected

Enter the coordinates of the 1st point when About axis defined by 2 pts. is selected

2nd point
Enter the coordinates of the 2nd point when About axis defined by 2 pts. is selected.

Merge Duplicate Nodes

Merge overlapping nodes to single nodes if new nodes coincide with existing nodes. Click the [...] button to modify the Merging Tolerance.

Copy Node Attributes

Select the option whether to copy the attributes (nodal boundary conditions, nodal concentrated loads, etc.) to the nodes being copied. Click the [...] button to assign desired attributes selectively.

Intersect Frame Elements

Select the option whether to divide the existing line (beam & truss) elements at the newly created nodes that intersect the elements. Click the [...] button to modify Intersecting Tolerance.
