Concurrent Force Calculator

Intro

The Concurrent Force Calculator is a plugin that extracts and exports concurrent force results from selected structural elements. It simplifies the process of reviewing analysis results by generating organized, tabulated force data based on user-selected elements, load combinations, and force components.

The plugin is designed to streamline post-processing tasks, making it easier to evaluate structural performance and prepare engineering reports.

Developed with

  • MIDAS CIVIL NX 2025 (v2.1)

Benefits of this plugin

  • The Concurrent Force Calculator offers several advantages:
  • Quickly extracts concurrent internal force results from selected structural elements.
  • Reduces the time required for manual data collection and post-processing.
  • Allows users to focus only on the required elements and load combinations.
  • Supports selection of specific force components such as:

             •  FX – Axial Force
             •  FY – Shear Force
             •  FZ – Shear Force
             •  MX – Torsional Moment
             •  MY – Bending Moment
             •  MZ – Bending Moment

  • Exports results directly to Microsoft Excel for further analysis, reporting, or documentation.
  • Provides the flexibility to create a new Excel worksheet or update an existing one.

How to use this plugin?

  1. Select Structural Elements
Choose the structural elements from the model for which concurrent force results are required.

  2. Select Load Combinations
Choose one or more load combinations whose results you want to extract.

  3. Select Force Components
Select the required force components to include in the output. Available components include:
     FX (Axial Force)
     FY (Shear Force)
     FZ (Shear Force)
     MX (Torsional Moment)
     MY (Bending Moment)
     MZ (Bending Moment)

  4. Generate Results
Run the plugin to extract concurrent force data for the selected elements and load combinations.

  5. Export to Excel
Choose one of the available export options:
Export the results to a new Excel worksheet, or
Update an existing Excel worksheet with the newly generated data.
The exported table is organized for easy review, filtering, and reporting.

Note

  • Ensure that the structural analysis has been completed successfully before running the plugin.
  • Only selected elements are processed; unselected elements are not included in the output.

Conclusion

The Concurrent Force Calculator provides a fast and efficient way to extract, organize, and export concurrent force results from structural analysis models. By allowing selective extraction of elements, load combinations, and force components, the plugin minimizes manual effort and improves the accuracy and efficiency of engineering post-processing and reporting workflows.
