Function
- Define the floor load cases and the corresponding floor loads.
- The floor loads defined here are applied to the structure by the Assign Floor Loads command.
- Although the floor loads such as dead, live, roof and snow loads have different values, they share the common loading areas. In order to avoid laborious repetitions and expedite the loading data entry process, midas Civil distinguishes the commands for the definition of floor loads and the application of floor loads.
Call
From the main menu, select [Load] tab > [Type : Static Loads] > [Pressure Load] group > [Assign Floor Loads] > [Floor Load Type]

Case 1 To define or add new floor load cases
Enter the following items and click the Add button :
Floor Load Type Name & Description
Name : Floor load name
The name is used to access the Floor Load Type when entering the floor load to be applied to the structure by the Assign Floor Loads command.
Typically, the names are designated by the architectural uses (office, rooftop, etc.).
Description : Enter a short description for the load type
Floor Load & Load Case
Assign the load cases and enter the values of the relevant floor loads.
Load Case : Select a load case
Floor Load : Enter the magnitude of the floor load per unit area
... : Enter the magnitude of the floor load per unit area using a predetermined floor load from the Load of Preferences
Refer to Fig.3 of "Assign Floor Loads" for the sign convention.
Sub Beam Weight : For unmodeled Sub-Beams, select whether or not to include the self-weight of the unmodeled sub-beams (Refer to Note of "Assign Floor Loads")
Case 2 To modify previously defined floor load types
Select the relevant load type from the list at the bottom of the dialog box, modify the entry fields at the top and click the Modify button.
Case 3 To delete previously defined floor load types
Select the relevant load type from the list at the bottom of the dialog box and click the Delete button.
