System Temperature

Function

  • In thermal stress analysis, when the temperature of the entire structure varies from an initial (reference) temperature to a set temperature (final temperature), enter the final or system temperature. Modify or delete the previously entered final temperature.
  • The thermal variation load analysis is carried out for all the elements in midas Civil. The temperature change renders thermal strains and consequent internal forces in members.

  • Where, is the linear thermal expansion coefficient entered in "Material". T1 is the initial temperature (refer to "Structure Type") and T2 is the final temperature of the structure. The final temperature can be assigned to the total structure. Different final temperatures (refer to "Nodal Temperature") may be assigned to different parts of the structure.

 

Call

From the main menu, select [Load] tab > [Type : Temperature] > [Temperature Loads] group > [System Temp.]

Load Case Name

Assign the load case name. Click the ... button to the right to enter additional load cases and modify or delete existing load cases.

 


Load Group Name

Select the desired Load Group that will include the entered System Temperature data. Select "Default" if a Group assignment is unnecessary. Click the ... button to the right to add, modify, or delete Load Groups.

 


Operation

To enter new or additional final temperature condition

Enter the following items and click the Add button.

Final Temperature : Final temperature of structure.

 

To modify previously entered final temperatures

Select the relevant cases from the final temperature list at the bottom of the dialog box. Modify the entry field above and click the Modify button.

 

To delete previously entered final temperatures

Select the relevant cases from the final temperature list at the bottom of the dialog box and click the Delete button.
