[Installation] Installation methods for multiple versions of the product_Geotech

Question

Can all versions of the product be used on a single PC when multiple versions are available?

Answer

If you wish to install and use multiple versions on a PC, you can do so by changing the installation folder name or the installation path.

The MIDAS program is designed to automatically uninstall the existing version during installation and then proceed with the installation. However, if you wish to install and use multiple versions, you need to change the default installation path to prevent the previously installed program from being uninstalled. Another good practice is to differentiate versions by appending the version number to the folder name where the program is installed.

1. Change the folder name of the existing installed program. (E.g., GEOXD_V5XX / GEOXD_V4XX)

Program Default installation path
GTS NX C:\Program Files\MIDAS
GEOXD C:\Program Files\MIDAS
SOILWORKS C:\Program Files (x86)\MIDAS

2. Please download and install the additional programs according to the instructions provided in the [Installation] Program installation method_Geotech

1) The content and notifications may vary for each program, but you will encounter a prompt asking whether to remove the previous version. At that time, click the [No] button to proceed with the installation without removing it.

2) Most of the steps that appear during the installation are dedicated to installing essential programs necessary for running the MIDAS program. Without any exceptions, all of these steps must be completed in order to use the program.

3. After completing the installation, change the folder name of the newly installed program. (E.g., GEOXD_V5XX / GEOXD_V4XX)

Program Default installation path
GTS NX C:\Program Files\MIDAS
GEOXD C:\Program Files\MIDAS
SOILWORKS C:\Program Files (x86)\MIDAS

In Onedesk, the program is set to launch the most recently installed version when executing. Please keep this in mind when proceeding with the program installation.
