  How to switch between CIM mode and CAD mode in CAD ID?

 

 Answer

To access both modes, CAD ID must be opened and linked with the CIM model. Once CAD ID is open from the CIM model, follow these steps to switch between CIM mode and CAD mode in CAD ID:

 

Method 1: Using the Command Line

Step-1: In the command line, type CHANGEMODE and press Enter.

Step-2: Enter the numeric input to switch modes:

    • Type "1" → To switch from CAD mode to CIM mode
    • Type "2" → To switch from CIM mode to CAD mode

Step-3: Press the Enter key on the keyboard to apply the change.

By performing these steps, you will be able to shift between modes.


You can verify the current active mode at the top-right corner of the drafting window in CAD ID.

 

Method 2: Using the View menu panels

Switching from CAD mode to CIM mode:

Step-1: On the left side of the Drafting window, go to the CIM View menu panel.

Step-2: Double-click on the Auto Generate Drawing option or any other view to go to CIM mode

Note: All the drawing views that were generated in different library modes of CIM will appear under the Auto Generated Drawing's dropdown.

 

Switching from CIM mode to CAD mode:

Step-1: On the right side of the Drafting window, find the CAD View menu panel.

Step-2: Double click on CAD option to change the mode to CAD mode

Note: All the drawing files (".DWG") that were generated in CAD mode of CAD ID, will appear under CAD's dropdown section under CAD view menu panel.

 


By following any of these methods, you can easily switch between CIM mode and CAD mode in CAD ID.
