Question
How to create a cutting view in CAD ID?
Answer
In CAD ID, users can add cutting views to any existing drawing views generated through the CIM model.
This is possible in the CIM mode of CAD INFRA DESIGN. An example of creating a new cutting view is
highlighted in the steps below.
Step 1 - In the CIM mode of CAD ID, click on INFRA DESIGN ribbon.
From the sub functions, choose the View function and hover the cursor towards right at Cutting View.
Step 2 - In the View sub function click on Cutting View.
The command bar at the bottom of the CAD ID interface displays a message "Prefix Text <C>"
Users can input the Prefix for the cutting view name here.
Step 3 - In the command bar, input text C (any desired alphanumeric input is possible) and press Enter.
Continue with the input steps in the command bar. Once the prefix is set, then a
"Number[Alphabet(A)/Number(N)/Manual(M)]" message is displayed. Here, users can choose alphabets or
numbers for the cutting view nomenclature. To activate, the abbreviations should be entered in the continuation.
Step 4 - In the command bar, input M for manual input and press Enter.
Now, the command bar shows the preview of the cutting view name.
Step 5 - Continue to press, Enter.
Now, to choose the locations to create a cutting view, provide a reference from any existing drawing view in
CAD ID. This step requires two points to be defined. Using the cursor select the First and the Next point.
Step 6 - Specify the First point from the desired drawing view with cursor left click.
In continuation, choose the Next point.
Step 7 - Specify the Next point in the same drawing view, in perpendicular to the first point.
To specify the direction and view range.
Step 8 - Once the Next point is chosen, hover the cursor and define the view range, using left click to apply.
Now, specify the location of the new cutting view to be placed either by defining the X,Y coordinates or by cursor
click.
Step 9 - Use the cursor or define the insertion point to place the view in the model space.
The Cutting View is displayed in the model space.
The Cutting View command is complete.
