Question
How to edit/modify the concrete dimensions created using Auto-Dimension option?
Answer
Consider that we have already generated dimensions in a drawing view using the 'Auto Dimension' option, as shown below.
When we use the 'Auto Dimension' option, the dimensions are created based on the location of vertices in the drawing view. Now, let's see how we can edit these dimensions.
Combine Dimensions
Let's consider that we need to combine the dimensions displayed above the pier cap. To achieve this, follow the steps below:
- Type "DC" in the command prompt bar. This command is used to combine dimensions.
- Press the Enter key.
- In the command prompt, you will be asked to select the dimensions to combine. Using the cursor, now let's select the required dimensions.
- Select the dimension above the pier cap. Once you select the first dimension, the prompt will display "Entity in set: 1", indicating that one dimension has been selected.
- Now, proceed to select the remaining dimensions using left mouse clicks. In this case, we have selected four dimensions, as shown below.
- Press the Enter key.
- The selected dimensions will now be combined into a single dimension as shown below.
Divide Dimensions
Let's consider that we need to divide the pier height dimension at its midpoint. To achieve this, follow the steps below:
- Type "DD" in the command prompt bar. This command is used to divide dimensions.
- Press the Enter key.
- In the command prompt, you will be asked to select the dimensions to divide. Using the cursor, let's now select the required dimensions.
- Select the pier height dimension using the left mouse click.
- We will be asked to specify the vertex to divide the dimension, so we need to hover the mouse over the midpoint of the pier. At the exact midpoint, the cursor will change to a triangle icon, indicating the midpoint of the line segment. Make a left-click at that location.
- The pier height dimension will now be divided at the midpoint, as shown below.
- Press the Esc key to exit.
This is the process of editing dimensions created using the 'Auto Dimension' option.
