Question
How to use Elastic Links with Boundary Change Assignment?
Answer
Elastic Links can't be altered using the Boundary Change Assignment (BCA) feature. However, General Links can be defined and these can be changed using the BCA. The steps to define the same are shown below
Step 1: Define General Link of Spring type without selecting any non-linear parameters and assign it to the required node location
Boundary>Link>General Link>General Link Properties
Enter the stiffness in all the degrees of freedom.
Boundary>Link>General Link>General Link
Select the respective boundary group and assign the General Link in between the highlighted nodes.
Step 2: Use "Change General Link Property" and select the same General Link node location, so that General Link can be used for "Boundary Change Assignment"
Boundary>Link>General Link>Change General Link Property
Select the same General Link node location by using "2 Nodes" or "General Link Number".
Step 3: Check On the "Change General Link Property" in "Boundary Change Assignment Group"
The boundary group having the General Link can now be used with "Boundary Change Assignment" as shown below
