Question
A I set the shear link design to 1 layer, but the result still shows 2-P10-75 and 2-P10-75.
Can you clarify why the default shear link is set to 2?
Answer
In response to your question, the number you are referring to indicates the "number of legs of ties/spirals."
When designing ties or spirals for columns, they are designed to wrap around the main bars, forming a minimum of a 2-legged stirrup. Therefore, the default value is set to 2.
Even if you set the shear link to one layer, the software will still display 2-P10-75 and 2-P10-150 due to this design rule.
