Question
How do I perform the steel code check? I encountered an issue during this process?
Answer
The Steel Code Check in Midas Gen is a critical step in verifying the compliance of your structural model with relevant design codes. This guide walks you through the complete workflow to conduct the check, generate reports, and address common issues.
Access the Design Tab:
Begin by navigating to the [Design] tab in the main menu.Select Your Design Code:
Choose the appropriate [Design Code] based on your regional or project requirements.Open the Steel Design Module:
Click on [Steel Design], then proceed to [Steel Code Check...] to initiate the design process.
After running the code check:
- Select Specific Members:
You can isolate and select the specific structural members you wish to review in more detail. Generate Output Reports:
Choose one of the following reporting options based on your needs:[Graphic…]: For visual representation of results.
[Detail…]: For comprehensive member-by-member checks.
[Summary…]: For an overview of the steel design verification.
For further clarification on the output items, refer to the Midas Gen Product Manual for detailed descriptions and design theory references.
If the Steel Code Check is not executing and you receive a warning message stating: "Load Combination for Steel Design has not been defined", this indicates that no load combinations have been set specifically for design purposes. To resolve this:
Go to the [Results] tab.
Locate the [Combination] group.
Select Load Combination, and copy the combinations already used for analysis into the design section.
