Question
How to define blocks in CAD ID?
Answer
In CAD ID, users can create a custom set of BLOCKS similar to other CAD tools. This function is available in the
CAD mode of CAD ID. A sample of defining blocks is highlighted in the steps below.
Here, a block combining a shape type and the text type is shown.
A block when defined can be used throughout the drawing at multiple instances, thereby reducing the repetitive
drafting steps by employing the BLOCKS quickly.
Step 1 - In the command bar enter BLOCK and press enter
A define block window shall appear, here define the parameters of the block such as the Name, Base point, and
select the objects to be included in the BLOCK set.
Step 2 - Enter the Name as Text Block
Now, in Object Type, choose the objects (text and shape)
Step 3 - Use the cursor and click on Select Object
In model space use the cursor to click and select the objects
Step 4 - Select the first object then press and hold Ctrl keyboard button to continue to select the second object
Step 5 - Press enter
The Define block appears again, now define the base point
Step 6 - Use the cursor and click on Selection Point
In the model space choose the desired location which remains as a base point for the block, the command bar
displays a message "specify insertion base point"
Step 7 - Use the cursor and click on the left bottom of the rectangular box
Step 8 - Press enter
In the final step, to create the block click OK
Step 9 - Click OK to apply
The final result is displayed in the model space. A block combining the text and a rectangle shape are defined
successfully. The smart blocks can be copied for quick drafting purpose.
