Function
- Divide a straight line joining 2 nodes in equal or unequal segments and create nodes at the division points.
Call
From the main menu, select [Node/Element] tab > [General] group > [Divide] > [Divide Node]
Input
Divide Nodes dialog box
Click to the right of Divide Nodes
Display the Node Table
Start Node Number
Enter a starting node number for the newly created nodes resulting from the division. This number is auto-set to the largest node number in use +1. To modify this item, click and select an option to specify a desired number.
Divide
Equal Distance : Divide the line at an equal spacing
Number of Divisions : Number of divisions (number of nodes to be created + 1)
Unequal Distance : Divide the line at unequal distances. Enter unequal distances as many times as required.
(Ex. 5, 3, 4.5, 3@5.0, 4 = 5, 3, 4.5, 5.0, 5.0, 5.0, 4)
Parametric Unequal Distance (Ratio) : Unequal distances defined in terms of distance ratios. The unequal interval ratio is entered as a relative ratio to the distance between the two points you want to divide.
Nodes to Divide
Enter consecutively the node numbers of the two nodes making up the line to be divided. Alternatively, click the entry field and the two nodes in the working window.
Merge Duplicate Nodes
Merge overlapping nodes to single nodes if new nodes coincide with existing nodes. Click to modify the Merging Tolerance.
Intersect Frame Elements
Select the option whether to divide the existing line (beam & truss) elements at the newly created nodes that intersect the elements. Click to modify Intersecting Tolerance.
