Question
Procedure to Import a CAD File into GTS NX
Answer
Follow the steps below when importing a CAD DWG/DXF file into GTS NX:
-
Translate the CAD Drawing to the Origin
Before importing the file into GTS NX, shift the entire CAD model near the origin in the CAD software. -
Ensure Proper Curve Intersections
For models with complex geometry, confirm that all curves are properly intersected. This prevents geometry errors during import. -
Remove All Text Elements
Text entities in the CAD file are not supported in GTS NX. Delete all text to ensure a smooth import. -
Match CAD File Units with GTS NX Import Settings
The unit system used in the CAD file must match the import settings in GTS NX.
Steps to add an offset to structural elements:
Go to Tools >Options >Geometry/Mesh/Connections >Geometry >Import >Set the Length unit of the model.
